In 1988, Claire Simon presented in competition her film La Police, for which she won the Grand Prix for the Best French Short Film.
The Grand Prix for the Best Foreign Feature Film was awarded to Yousry Nasrallah for his film Vol d'été.
And a Special Mention was given to Joaquim Pinto for Uma Pedra no bolso.
Isabelle Huppert (in photos) was in Belfort for the screening of Milan noir by Ronald Chammah (in competition)
Jean-Marie Larrieu was present as well for his short film Court voyage, which was produced by Le GREC.
