Chigasaki Story

A Japanese seaside resort at the end of August. A class of archaeology students lands in a youth hostel. The tall and shy Tomoharu, a devoted seasonal worker, is put in charge of taking care of the group and guiding them to the local sites. If his classmate, the sweet Ayako, has fallen for him and his diligent heart, his own heart seems to favour Karin, a trendy and brazen woman who has come to the hostel with her colleague, the elegant Maki, to celebrate a bachelorette party. Filmed in the house where Yasujiro Ozu wrote Tokyo Story and Late Spring, Chigasaki Story weaves a delicate and colourful narrative filled with love games, the complex combinations of which allow the characters to be progressively revealed to themselves and to each other.
