Tutto apposto gioia mia
Chloé Lecci López
Since her father’s arrest, the filmmaker records their phone conversation. She goes to Catana, like she does every summer, to visit her family and meets Giulio. Through him, she tries to understand the path to delinquency taken by her father years before.
After her studies at a film school and specializing in documentary, Chloé Lecci Lopez joined the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). In 2021, she joined the first residency of Studio 34, the creative workshop of the collective La Clef Revival, and directed Tutto apposto gioia mia, her first produced short film.
NOTICE OF THE SELECTION COMITEE
Is it a tale of a Sicilian summer, or an intimate gangster movie, a holiday journal or a sociological investigation on crime? Chloé Lecci López just won’t choose; and rightly so, her film has more scope and is more original as a result of that lack of boundaries. Through the perspective of her family history and her impeded relationship with her father, the director conveys Sicilian reality that is rarely accessible to outsiders. Chloé Lecci López’s camera moves organically through the streets of Catana, without urgency but rather patiently, she collects gestures and words from various generations that echo one another.
