He has crossed and survived. Originally from Côte d’Ivoire, he now lives in Italy. However, France is his dream and he’ll stop at nothing to get there. 

Joël Akafou was born in Ivory Coast. He has obtained a Master in Filmmaking at the Institut Supérieur de l’Image et du Son in Ouagadougou. In 2016 his film Nourah has been selected in several renowned African festivals. His documentary  Vivre riche has been awarded in Visions du Réel in 2017 and selected in France in Brive. After the Crossing is his first documentary feature film.
