Portrait of a ten-year-old boy, the filmmaker brother’s stepson who lives in the shrinking Russian provincial town of Arsenyev. Stepan shares his painful memories and his deepest thoughts as he is dealing with the buoyancy of childhood and the intense struggle of daily life.
Vitaly Akimov began his career as a photojournalist. In 2014, in Saint Petersburg, he single-handedly made and published a magazine about art people, The Strangers. He is currently studying at Moscow School of New Cinema. A Boy, his first short movie, premiered at IDFA in 2020.
