37th edition: the five members of the International Competition Jury

Louise Chevillotte trained at the Conservatoire National de Paris, and graduated in 2017. On camera, she has worked with Philippe Carrel (Lover for a Day, The Salt of Tears), Nadav Lapid (Synonyms) and Paul Verhoeven (Benedetta). She was in Louda Ben Salah-Cazanas’ The World after Us, and the lead actress in Lucie Borleteau’s À mon seul désir. She performs in Jérôme Bonnell’s series Les Hautes Herbes on Arte. On stage, she often collaborates with Christian Schiaretti and François Cervantès.

 

After studying directing and editing at Idhec, Valérie Loiseleux has been working as an editor on narrative films and documentaries since 1986, collaborating with many directors; for instance, she has edited almost all Manoel de Olivera’s films since 1991. She won a César in 2001 for her work on Lucas Belvaux’s Un couple épatant. She edited films by Alain Bergala, Sophie Fillières, Eugène Green, Marie Vermillard, Bahman Ghobadi, Ruth Zylberman, Wang Xiaoshuiai, and the Coulin sisters. In 2014, she released her logbook as an editor, Les Gants Blancs [White Gloves], published by Filigranes.  

 

A professional dancer at first, Damien Manivel directed several memorable short films, such as La Dame au chien, winner of the Vigo Award. Since 2014, he wote and directed five feature films that were screened at major festivals (Cannes, Locarno, Venice, San Sebastian…), including Le Parc, which won the Grand Prize at the Entrevues Festival of Bellfort in 2016, and Les Enfants d’Isadora - winner of the Best Director Award at the Locarno IFF. His latest film, Magdala, premiered at the ACID at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

 

Maxence Tual first started on stage when he was a philosophy student. Jean-Christophe Meurisse called on him when he created the Chiens de Navarre theater company in 2005, and was the lead actor in his film Apnée. In 2021, he wrote and created Encore plus, partout, tout le temps with the artist collective L’Avantage du Doute. He acted in Rodin by Jacques Doillon (2016), Audrey Diwan’s Losing It (2019) and Caroline Vignal’s My Donkey, My Lover & I (2020). This year, he appeared in Céline Devaux Everybody Loves Jeanne and Diary of a Fleeting Affair by Emmanuelle Mouret.

 

Eléonore Weber is a theater director and a filmmaker. Her performances - some of which have been devised in collaboration with Patricia Allio - were presented at the Avignon festival and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, as part of the Paris Autumn Festival. She directed two narrative short films, Temps morts and Les Hommes sans gravité, as well as a documentary she shot in Mexico - all of which were screened at Entrevues. Her latest film, There Will Be No More Night, won a prize at Cinéma du réel and many international film festivals, and was released in movie theaters in 2021. It won the French Union of Film Critics’ Peculiar Film Award.
