Father
Deng Wei
In his twilight years, Zuogui, the director’s grandfather, a fortune teller who’s been blind from the age of three, grows increasingly resentful of his son, Donggu, a real estate developer, and his urge to get even for his humble beginnings. Until a fateful accident on a construction site that brings the latter to reassess his life; perhaps an opportunity for father and son to finally rekindle their relationship.
Deng Wei is a director and producer. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Film and Visual Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Father is his first feature documentary. It just received the Golden Dove in DOK Leipzig for International Competition Long Documentary and Animated Film.
