Zeca always does everything the same. He tries to get up early to catch the bus and arrive an hour and a half later at the school in the neighboring town, where he works as a librarian. Getting out of bed is becoming increasingly difficult; something prevents him from maintaining this daily routine. One day, Zeca meets Luisa.
After his History and Film degrees, André Novais Oliveira directed three short films, Fantasmas, and Pouco Mais de Um Mê and Quintal (the last two were selected at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2013 and 2015). His first feature film She Comes Back on Thursday was screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival and FID in Marseille in 2015. Temporada won Entrevues’ Public Choice in 2018.

The simple and programmatic aspect of André Novais Oliveira’s new film seems to get us ready for a canonical story: two ailing souls that meet at a pivotal moment of their lives.
Steering clear from the overwhelming feelings of melodrama, and the stereotypes of romantic comedies, takes us on a graceful journey through their disarming routine, deep into the struggle to be present to the world and to oneself.
Zeca and Luisa are both affected by their routine, even their mental health takes a toll, and oddly that imbalance lays the ground for the encounter.
The riveting interpretations of Renato Novaes and Grace Passô makes it a precious film, at times humble and innocent, that perpetuates the joy of first moments without ever giving in to the easy shortcuts of drama.
