A word from the selection committee :
Transcending the flesh, bending matter to one’s will, destroying the image from within to bring forth an identity void of any injunction or violence: starting from a seemingly banal family archive – that of their baptism – Yace Sula draws out the latent brutality of the norms and coercion the event carries. Making use of every tool offered by experimental cinema (digital glitches confronting the photochemical texture of film, a mix that owes much to noise-music), they remain on the edge of figuration, unfolding a remarkably potent first-person narrative, one that affirms that, beyond an impossible dialogue with family, one must shed one's skin to find oneself, and let go in order to exist.Victor Bournerias
