LA FEMME ATTENDUE
Nicolas LINCY

Arriving in a hamlet in the middle of the woods, Agnès searches for the way to a Wellness Center that is no longer signposted. She hopes to see her son again, who left several years ago. Agnès finally finds the place: seemingly deserted, the gate closed. However, inside the building, everyone is waiting for her for an important ceremony.
A word from the selection committee :
This short film could have been a cinephile’s recital: Light as the answer to everything, the great purveyor of truth, dangling from a hook as bait for the voracious spectator to take a greedy bite. Inevitably, his jaw gets caught; his cheek slightly bloodied, he is now eviscerated by a film he nevertheless watches with a thin trickle of blood-laced drool. Nicolas Lincy can be proud of his cinematic trap, of the sheer audacity with which he toys with the emotions of those who dare venture in. It all unfolds without artifice or deception: he erects mysteries that emerge in broad daylight; his mise-en-scène conceals nothing, but instead meticulously builds a universe that blurs certain distinctions – those between satire and advocacy, or between the miraculous and the horrifying. Perhaps, he seems to be telling us, this is all still a matter of perspective… for if the reality thus sketched seems dubious, the fiction that emerges from it proves imbued with a singular empathy. A woman is expected, and the light lies in ambush: how delightful it is to still be unsettled by a film.Pierre Guidez
