MY LITTLE NOTHING
Lucy KERR

Two voices, one written, the other synthesized, engage in a philosophical dialogue about the amorous abyss separating them: a nineteen-year-old girl has decided to marry the Devil.
A word from the selection committee :
The devil lies in the details; and My Little Nothing is nothing but details. With a pared-down setup, two frames, two voices, Lucy Kerr turns this “little nothing”, which begins as a socratic dialogue, into a genuine descent into horror, insensibly erasing the boundaries between space, time and beings. Inspired by Mary MacLane’s diary, written in 1910 and titled I Await the Devil’s Coming, from which she draws the material for her dialogues verbatim, Lucy Kerr brings another reality to light, one in which the sounds of a teenage girl’s bedroom as we imagine her behind her screen, and the vast expanses of a Latvian forest echo each one another and – just like its protagonists – strike a dialogue. The conceptual and minimalist strength of Kerr’s work imperceptibly reaches Lovecraftian heights, at once cosmic and paradoxically comic.
