The Works and Days (of Tayoko Shiojiri in the Shiotani Basin)

“The first rule in farming is that you are never to hope for an easy way. The land demands your effort.” (The Georgics, Virgil). Through the course of five seasons, The Works and Days follows a female farmer in the mountains of the Kyoto county, portraying a family, a land, the soundscape and passage of time.
C.W. Winter a étudié les Beaux-Arts au California Institute of the Arts et a obtenu cette année son doctorat en Théorie et Pratique de l'Art à l'Université d'Oxford. Plusieurs de ses textes ont été publiés dans des revues telle que Cinema Scope et Moving Imag Source.
Anders Edström est un photographe et cinéaste suédois. Son travail a été exposé à Paris et en Allemagne et il a publié plusieurs livres.
Leur premier film, The Anchorage, a remporté le Léopard d'or au Festival de Locarno dans la section Cinéastes du présent en 2009.
