The last Hillbilly

For generations, Brian Ritchie’s family has been living in the heart of the Appalachians, belonging to the so called “hillbillies”. The area has been left in dire straits after the mines closed down. Caught between a mythical past and a murky future, Brian is one of the last witnesses of a vanishing world that inspires his poetry.
Diane Sara Bouzgarrou et Thomas Jenkoe vivent et travaillent ensemble à Lille. Le film de Diane, Je ne me souviens de rien (2017), a été sélectionné au festival Cinéma du Réel, au Torino Film Festival et à RIDM. Thomas a réalisé auparavant Souvenirs de la Géhenne, primé au Cinéma du Réel en 2015 et sélectionné au festival de Rotterdam et à Brive notamment. The Last Hillbilly est leur premier long métrage.
