Eun-ju and Heung-ju visit Chuncheon’s Cheongpyeong Temple where they spent their first night together long years ago. On the way from the Temple, Eun-ju finds out that she lost her phone and starts looking for it everywhere. As the night goes on, Heung-ju and Eun-ju come across unexpected encounters spur them on to reflect on themselves...

Winter's Night takes us into a mysterious night with Eun-ju and Heung-ju, a couple coming back years later to Chuncheon, where they first met. The film's directing is precise, with long and meticulous static shots and a narrative exploring chance and various temporalities. We wander along with this melancholic and insomniac couple that makes surprising encounters, such as a young couple who resemble them thirty years before. The surrealistic settings increase an unsettling sensation of getting lost into the characters' intriguing discussions on their past, their future and the fleetingness of time. A deeply nostalgic and moving moment, for the characters and the viewers. (Charlotte Corchète)
